*2006, June 30, OBITUARY, The Chicago Tribune, "Daniel Jameson Payne Sr., age 73, of Bolingbrook, IL died June 30, 2006 at Edward Hospital, Naperville, IL. He was born in Chicago, IL to William Barrie and Marjorie Thomas Payne on January 16, 1933. He is survived by his wife Juanita Smith Payne, his mother Marjorie Thomas Payne and his sister Sally Coomes (husband Roger). He is also survived by his daughter Tracy Payne Gamble (husband David), his son Daniel Bishop Payne (wife Annie) and his grandchildren Ariel and Zachary Bishop Payne. His father and his son Jason Walter Payne preceded him in death. He graduated from South Shore High School in Chicago, IL and Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN. He was a teacher (K-12 as well as college level) and a school administrator, in Paris, IL, Wheaton, IL, Brockport, NY, Phoenix, AZ, Mokena, IL, and Bolingbrook, IL. He worked as an auditor for the Illinois State Board of Education until his retirement. He was an actor, a member of Actor’s Equity, and volunteered as an interpreter at Naper Settlement. Memorial donations to Naper Settlement, 523 S. Webster St., Naperville, IL 60540 will be appreciated. Arrangements were made by the Cremation Society of Illinois."
